Do you feel weighed down by painful memories? Do you struggle with self-doubt, anxiety, or feeling disconnected from others? Are past experiences making it hard to trust, set boundaries, or feel safe in your own skin? Maybe you find yourself repeating unhealthy patterns in relationships, feeling stuck in your career, or battling sleep issues or nightmares. As a young adult who experienced childhood neglect, emotional/physical/sexual abuse, or grew up in a chaotic or unsafe environment, those early wounds may still shape your present. They can affect your self-worth, relationships, and ability to fully step into the life you want.

Do you experience intrusive or distressing thoughts that feel impossible to escape? Do you find yourself trapped in a cycle of compulsions, fearing that something bad will happen if you don’t perform a specific action? Or perhaps you avoid situations due to anxiety, phobias, or past trauma? If your past or daily stressors are interfering with your ability to live the life you desire, you’re not alone — and there’s hope for change. Together, we can explore a path toward reclaiming your time, freedom, and joy. I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help individuals confront and heal from the challenges of OCD, trauma, anxiety, and phobias. Through ERP, individuals learn how to break free from the compulsions that maintain the OCD cycle. With ART, I work to shift the way individuals relate to painful memories, reducing emotional distress and restoring a sense of safety, empowerment, and peace. You don’t have to live in fear or be controlled by your symptoms. Let’s work together to transform your experience and help you build a fulfilling, joyful life. Julie Desjardins specializes in therapy for individuals, parents, couples and families struggling with their relationships. We often see relationships deteriorate because of accentuated mental health issues, a lack of communication, a loss of emotional connection, and external stressors that impact everyone.

Clients who work with Julie can expect a supportive, safe and non-judgemental environment, a gentle approach to challenging oneself, receiving resources and homework, and exploring a new sense of self. She also supports clients in finding new coping skills, developing new communication skills, and strategies to improve their relationships. She places great importance on building a therapeutic relationship based on trust and understanding, as well as guiding her clients to explore new perspectives that are out of their comfort zone.

After 15 years of working in the mental health field, Julie enjoys witnessing her client’s healing process, and their progress with the use of tools and talk therapy. She draws from a variety of approaches, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive-Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (CBT-DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and attachment-based therapy.

Julie would be more than happy to answer all your questions and get to know you better with a free 20-minute consultation.

Sometimes the world overwhelms – daily stressors of work, school, social and family obligations and worries about finances, climate, or housing can lead to feeling stuck, like we don’t know where to go because there’s so much to deal with and we don’t know where to begin.

I use an evidence and strengths-based approach tailored to your needs and your lived experience that incorporates elements of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), experiential techniques, and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT).

I strive to create a safe space where you can truly be yourself and share your thoughts, feelings, worries, and hopes. Together, we will build on your strengths to help you deal with life’s challenges and become more fulfilled.

Sophie is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University with previous experience as a teacher and research scientist. Having supported many students over decades, she has realized that you get the best out of people when you build them up, not tear them down. That’s why she favours a strengths-based and integrative approach to support clients while they build up. She is passionate about helping students, like those she teaches, transition to post-secondary life and the workforce but also anyone striving to find work-life balance, those dealing with symptoms of anxiety and depression including issues with motivation and finding meaning.

In our increasingly digital world, it’s easy to feel disconnected from the real world and from people around us. Whether you are struggling with overwhelming emotions or seeking to understand your past and its impact on your present life, I’m here to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for your journey toward healing. Depression, anxiety, and trauma often have lasting effects on how we view ourselves and relate to others. For many, these struggles can lead to feelings of low self-esteem, behavioural patterns that no longer serve them, or even substance use as a means of coping. Clients may also experience a deep sense of disconnection from themselves, from others, or a larger sense of purpose. If you’ve been feeling isolated, misunderstood, or stuck in cycles that are hard to break, you’re not alone, and it’s possible to find a path forward. In therapy with me, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they can be fully themselves without fear of judgment. The therapy space is designed to foster trust and collaboration, allowing you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. You will feel heard, supported, and empowered. By integrating various approaches, I tailor each session to meet your unique needs, helping you develop new perspectives, coping strategies, and a deeper understanding of yourself. If you’re ready to take the first step toward healing and personal growth, I offer a free consultation to explore how therapy can best support you.
